Diary of the ECDI Field School Mornington Peninsula 4-18 Feb 2024

The Mornington Peninsula field school for 2024, for two weeks, working across two field sites, is underway.


Day 1
Day 1 of the 3rd ANU cultural heritage fieldschool, Mornington Peninsula is underway. A great group of students working with industry and Bunurong traditional owners. A deeply engaging learning experience. Field school led by ECDI researchers Ben Shaw and Catherine Frieman.


Day 8
Day 8 of the ANU Mornington cultural heritage fieldschool. The 1860s stable building revealed, & millennia of land use on the dunes documented. An exciting range of fireside talks, BIG open day, and a day trip to French Island with Simon Haberle.


Day 12
Day 12 of the ANU Mornington fieldschool. Students have found their stride at both sites at Cape Schanck. The 1860s stables revealed and nuances of Aboriginal occupation documented. Total station training and a talk by Heritage Victoria.


This field school has been a partnership with Heritage Insight, Parks Victoria, Heritage Victoria and the Bunurong Land Council.
